CC Alive stands for Conceptual Chemistry Alive. It was created by John Suchocki who built a website that teaches through conceptual chemistry. The teachings are drawn from a textbook that focuses on the basic concepts of chemistry and how these basic concepts apply to daily lives.

Website features

The website features over 200 video tutorials where students can see and hear what they are learning, and not learn only from reading. The videos last about seven minutes long. The student has the option of rewinding these lessons to ensure accuracy. Some students are visual learners, and this works great for them. Their learning may go faster by watching a video rather than sitting, and reading a bunch of text. The practice pages are worksheets filled out by students, designed to assist them in getting through the tougher parts of the material. These practice pages are in printable PDF form.

Lessons learned

The various subjects offered by CCAlive cover aspects of the real world in chemistry. The articles featured are an extension of the contextual chemistry spotlight essays that are in between each chapter of the textbook. This in-progress feature of ConceptualChemistry.com is created primarily by students who write the articles as a special assignment. The answers are available for all of the practice pages, RATs and discussion questions.
